Building Together News

Coast to Coast Walk

In my haste to get the report of the walk to Luke, I omitted three people who also fulfilled vital rôles in the endeavour. Len Fletcher drove up to Osmotherley at the crack of dawn to transport us back to Ingleby Cross and later in the day carried some of us to Great Broughton before returning home. Thelma Williams and Susan Parkinson were our support on the penultimate day, taking us to Lockton Youth Hostel and in to Pickering to purchase the fish and chips and then returned on the last day to take us back to the car park. They were there at the finish at Robin Hood’s Bay. Many apologies to all of you for being left out. Mike Atkinson once again shared his story with us on Thursday, 29th September. Again, it was a very moving experience. We were pleased to have Quest with us and we are very grateful to Mike. £62 were raised for the funds.

Forthcoming events

Winter pansy sale

This will take place next Saturday, 15th October. Advanced orders may be collected from 1 pm. Phil from Ribblesdale will be with us, selling some plants and giving advice. Order forms are now available.

Avenham singers

The Avenham Singers will be performing in church at 7.30 pm on Saturday evening, 15th October. Tickets will cost £7.50, which includes a light supper.

Craft Fair

Chris Hoban’s purple clown’s wig will appear again at the Craft Fair on Saturday, 22nd October. This time she is hoping to make you laugh as well as learn something with two Flower demonstrations entitled Flowers for the Terrified at 11.30 and 12.30.

She is not the only one demonstrating, there will be quilting, weaving, rush and cane seating, photography and a chance of having a hand, neck and shoulder massage. You can have a go yourself at hand and machine quilting and a great opportunity to see traditional lace making with bobbins. There are many handmade craft items to buy including picture frames and hand original made wood carvings ready for Christmas. Can you afford not to come?

If you are going to enter the competitions don’t forget to contact Edna Armstrong on 01772 718800.

We are glad to present the St. Leonard’s Choral Group Concert on Tuesday, 8th November at 7.30 pm.

Jigsaw Sale: change of plan

There have been several changes for which we apologise. Finally, it has been moved to Saturday, 29th October when it will run alongside the Charity Card Sale. Jigsaws will be on sale in the church.
