Well! What a windfall of other Church magazines, beginning
with those from CTFB members
Christ Church and St John Baptist. Apart from Cartmell and Linton-in-Craven,
the remainder were from no-too-far-distant: Blackpool (North Shore), Burnley,
Leyland, Lytham, Preston, St Annes-on-Sea and
Warton. I also received a Welcome to the Minster
booklet (i.e. Preston);
a short history of St Brelade's Church, Jersey; a copy of The Fulwood
Methodist
from April 1971 and a publicity booklet on the Lancashire Family
History and
Heraldry Society! Many thanks to you all; please keep them coming.
An interesting point was to see someone else's Pram Service being billed as a Buggy Service, and yet another as Toddler Praise. There's always something to learn.
We hope that this issue provides you with items of interest and amusement, as well as things to reflect upon. We are always keen to have your contributions, no matter how brief, so please note the copy date for our next issue: Sunday, 4th February 2005— which may seem an age away to some. However, we know differently!
Four people to cherish are Sue Whiteford, Pauline Kirkham, Mike Cushing and Edna Armstrong, who all offered help in response to my recent appeal. Chris's neck problem isn't being improved by sitting gazing at a computer screen for lengthy spells, hence the cry for assistance. One or more of these good people must now tackle the job of putting onto computer the various jottings which have been submitted and making sense of the squiggles emanating from the editor's red pen!
PS. I am sure many people will be saddened to learn of the impending closure of Grimshaw Street United Reformed Church on 19th December 2004. As a town (now city) centre church, it has played a significant rôle over many, many years.
