Building Together News
In my last bulletin for the magazine(Easter edition) I reported that we had raised £74,000.
There was no fund
raising during Lent and we began again at the end of April. Four months have
passed and I am delighted to report that we are now over £80,000! All this
raised purely by ourselves! We were particularly delighted with amount raised
from the sponsored Moor Park event and we are hoping that the Ladies after Eight
Coast-to-Coast Walk will be equally successful. By the time you read
this, the ladies will all have returned from their great trek but if you have
not already sponsored them it will not be too late.
In July was the special Church meeting to discuss the changed circumstances of the Development Fund when it was realised that the original plans were now not realistic with spiralling costs and other circumstances. It was agreed at the meeting that come what may we cannot stand still and the church needs money. In the light of this we continue to raise funds and we have a programme arranged from now to Christmas. In September on Thursday, 29th Mike Atkinson will continue his story. Those of us who listened to Mike the first time will not forget how moving it was! In October on Saturday 15th there are two events, the Winter Pansy Sale in the afternoon and the Avenham Singers will entertain us in the evening and on Saturday 22nd we shall be having a Craft Fair. November will bring a concert by the St LeonardŐs singers, a jigsaw puzzle sale on Saturday 12th and the Christmas Fair on Saturday 26th. In December we hope to hold an informal carol singing evening on Wednesday 14th in the Parlour.
As you see there will be a lot going on and possibly other things as well. The Fund Raising Group still welcomes ideas and offers to arrange events. One of our problems is fitting every thing in as there are only so many days in the week!
