Building Together: Travelling Together

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the Gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. Inspired by Our Calling, we aim:Building Together

  • to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love
  • to help people to grow and learn as Christians through mutual support and care
  • to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice
  • to make more followers of Jesus Christ

Before the summer we sadly reached the conclusion that the current development scheme is not financially viable and we have begun a process of reassessment and re-visioning for the future. As part of this in the four months up to Christmas we will be following the Methodist Church's Our Calling. I hope by the time you receive this magazine you will have seen information about our plans for numerous events following the four themes of: Worship, Service, Learning & Caring and Evangelism— they are also listed in the diary dates.

Through the autumn we will be challenging those who belong to this church to commit themselves to use their Time, Talents and Treasure for the work of the church. Families and new arrivals in church will be visited to see how we can best serve each other. Everyone else will be asked to recommit themselves by supporting our activities and to reconsider their offering for the church's work. This will all be kicked off with a church social evening at Pius School (because we can't get everyone in at the church) on Saturday, 8th October, starting at 7.00 pm., This will include a quiz, games, food and a talk about our needs and plans. We hope as many as possible will join us that evening.

There will also be four talks on the Our Calling themes, led by Circuit ministers and the District evangelism enabler. These will not only be about different aspects of our faith but will help inform our conversations after Christmas about the future development of the church buildings. What are we planning for and why?

Please try and support as much of this autumn programme as you can so that together we can reflect on our church life and our own life of faith and see where God is leading us.
