Eureka! People proved to me that they'd read the Summer issue: no less than three have said they'd perhaps be willing to help produce the magazine. At least they're willing to come along to the next planning meeting to find out what's involved before they actually make a definite decision. I'm most grateful to them for their offers.

Several people have also taken the trouble to mention how they've enjoyed certain articles; these include the little story about Aubigny Drive, the item on Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, the Introducing... on Dorothy and myself and that concerning the Flower Festival at Kirkham URC. All good feed-back for us.

Jenny and David Withall have moved into their new (Sussex) abode and have promised to write something for the magazine, when time permits. Just now their efforts are turned more towards coping with the lawn (¾ acres!), and the wood (13½ acres) requires some attention. Lots of projects are in hand and we'll look forward to hearing about them in due course.

Anyone else contemplating supplying material for the Christmas issue should note that copy date is 6th November.

The latest batch of other people's magazines, assiduously collected by some of our readers on their travels, include examples from Blackpool, Bury St Edmunds, Bamburgh (Northumberland), Claverdon (Warwickshire), Cranbrook (Kent), Douglas (Isle of Man), Nova Scotia (Canada), Ormskirk and Wootton Wawen (also Warks). When you've re-read that last one you'll perhaps remember what I said about some places south of the Mersey having odd names!

P.S. By the time you read this the Ladies' Coast to Coast Walk will be over and they'll be busy collecting their hard-earned sponsorship money. As I'm writing this in August it has yet to take place: I'm sure we all wish them well, and a safe and trouble-free journey.
