Harvest Fruit Bread
- 1½ lb (680 gram) self raising flour
- ½ lb (225 gram) sugar
- ½ lb (225 gram) syrup
- 1 pint (0.57 litre) milk
- 4 ozs (110 gram) sultanas or raisins
Mix together to a batter, pour into 2 x 2lb (1kg) well greased and lined loaf tins. Bake in a slow oven 300°F / 150°C (Gas mark 2) for 1½ hours on the middle shelf until golden and firm to the touch. Keep at least a week or two before using.
