Editorial

I have an acquaintance who used to work on a local newspaper. His advice to me, as editor, was not to worry at all if no one was making known their views on the church magazine. He reckons it should be taken to mean that people, generally, are satisfied with the product. Whether that is, in fact, true or not I don't know Ð but I do worry!

The previous issue contained my Second Appraisal: it raised not one single comment. Neither did anyone report that they'd tried making Chris Hoban's soft jewellery and neither did the appeal for more help bring one volunteer. Currently I'm helped by three people in planning each issue of the magazine: shortly it could well be down to one, and I'm not sure that the two of us left could come up with enough good ideas to maintain the standards we've set. We need help!

However, I must say that it's been very heartening once again to have so many people supplying us with material to use in this, or a later, magazine. Please keep up the good work. Copy date for the next (Harvest) issue is Sunday, 14th August. Meanwhile, for those planning even further ahead, I hope you'll bear in mind the advert we carried for next year's Spring Tour to the Holy Land, 25 April to 4 May, with Thrum Hall Methodist Church, Rochdale.

I must thank again those who bring back copies of other people's magazines for us to look at; I keep promising myself that I'll set them out for you all to see some Sunday morning. My thanks also go to Ron & Moira, and especially Stuart Black for all their help in bringing in adverts, for the next twelve months.

Congratulations to our 39th Preston Brownie Pack; not only did they obtain Computer and Communicator badges—thanks to the help of Telewest Broadband— but appeared on the Business and Money pages of the Lancashire Evening Post!
