Ladies After Eight Sponsored Coast-to-Coast Walk
This
will take place from September 1st to17th. It is a walk of 190 miles and we
plan to walk eastwards from St Bees Head to
Robin Hood's Bay. Seven ladies are intending to walk the entire route— Delma
Whitman, Myrtle Poxon, Christine Oldham, Joan Smith, Margaret Squire and Barbara
Hothersall plus one brave man, Tony Whitman. Other walkers will join us from
time to time. Jacqueline Clarke hopes to set out with us for a couple of days
and Dave Ridout is to accompany us through part of the Lake District. If there
is anyone else out there who would like to join us along the way, they will be
very welcome.
We need support in several ways. First of all, your prayers for our well being and success and for good weather! We shall need transport for our luggage from place to place as we intend to only carry light sacks on the walk sufficient for our lunch and waterproofs, etc. On occasion, we will require transport to take us to and from our accommodation, especially in the more remote areas. Finally, we need sponsorship. We are being sponsored as a group, not individually and sponsor forms are available. Please see any of the walkers to get one or alternatively add your name to someone else's list. A website has been set up to enable sponsorship online. If anyone knows a company that would be prepared to sponsor us in return for advertisement, please let us know. We will be happy to walk wearing their teeshirts etc.
This is a big undertaking and we are doing it for the Development Fund. If you can help in any way, please contact us as soon as possible.
