Surrounding ourselves and the church with prayer
Our church is moving into another phase of its development as it becomes more strongly involved with prayer.
Do you realise that there exists a Fellowship Group meeting at 10.30am most Wednesday mornings as it gathers in the Parlour? This group varies in size, averaging about 15–20 people. Stephen Poxon initiated the idea and I know he is very proud of the group.
I found out about it after a prolonged stay in hospital, when the thought of going to an ordinary church service seemed a bit daunting with my crutches.
This group
is very supportive of each other and of the
church. We have a reading from the Bible: this often sparks off a discussion
which can, and does, meander away from the subject, but is most relative to
today's society! The discussion can be quite heated at times, but good-natured.
The meeting ends with Communion; I feel this is far more special in a small
group, rather than en masse with the whole of the church congregation.
We pray for people (with and without the church) whom we know are desperately in need of prayer. We pray for the Church locally, nationally and internationally. I feel this group to be the powerhouse of the church, as I believe we can do no better than take all our problems and joys to God in prayer.
You will be made most welcome if you have some time free on a Wednesday morning. Come along and see us, but do check details in the notices. Some weeks we do not meet— such as Easter— when there is already a lot going on in the church calendar.
We look forward to seeing you there!
