In
the early 1950s there was a thriving Fulwood Methodist
Football Club which played in one of the local Preston leagues
(Churches' League?). As far as I can ascertain, the names of some of the players
were: Frank Ainsworth, Derek Fazackerley, Bobby Gearing, Keith Hall, Alan
Jackson, Keith Redman, Brian Snape, Gerald Snape and Roy Wilson. Gerald
Snape
died from leukaemia many years ago, but the interesting thing is that most of
these ex-players, who are now in their 70s, still keep in touch with each
other although they are scattered around the country. Long-standing members
of the
church might remember these men who in those days of yesteryear, attended Sunday
School, joined the Scouts and became church members.
