EditorialCongratulations first of all to Robert Walsh: the recent Transit of Venus across the sun ensured that we now have our very own star of TV screen and radio (if you'll forgive the pun)! Star of the newspaper columns is Peter, our Minister, whose efforts have brought regular mentions of our various fund-raising activities. Then there's Sister Myrtle— to be installed as Vice President of the Methodist Conference by the time that you read this— and aren't we so proud of her! (Follow the links at the end of this article to find out more about some of the above news items) If you were at the Annual Church Meeting, or have seen the printed reports that were to be presented, you'll be well aware that life doesn't stand still. It's with some sadness that we note the impending retirement from office of our organist Geoffrey Bond; of Mrs Beryl Halewood and Mrs Jean Hull—leaders of the Friday morning Toddlers' Club; of Andrew & Wendy Bennett— co-leaders of the M'n'M's, and of Robert Walsh of the Friday night 'Escape'. We sincerely thank them all for the gifts of their time and energy and expertise. Now we must look ahead. My thanks to those who've provided me with copies of church magazines from far and wide: Bispham, Burnley, Bury St Edmunds, Clitheroe, Knutsford, Lytham and St Annes on this occasion. Holiday time is fast approaching and I look forward to receiving lots more! From one of those listed I notice that the group involved in assembling their magazine was being reminded, "The next folding day is..." Very descriptive! Anyway, we're most grateful for the sterling efforts of our folding and stapling group— and, indeed, to everyone else who has contributed to the production of this latest issue Robert Walsh Web Pages
