Galloway’s Society for the Blind

Galloway’s Society for the Blind are looking for willing helpers to record the taped version of the Methodist Recorder, we have enough readers, but we need people to sit outside the studio and operate the controls, making sure the sound levels are correct and listening for mistakes, etc. It may look technical but after half an hour’s training anyone could do it. We record on Thursdays, sometimes in the afternoon, sometimes in the evening, the time commitment could be as little as 2 hours a month in one session. We had a volunteer who covered about 3 sessions each month but we persuaded him to drive our minibus instead as we were even more desperate for drivers!

Once produced, the tapes go out to around 500 people across the Country each week.

It really helps if the ‘Controller’ is a Methodist, in the same way it helps if the controller of the Catholic Voice Newspaper is a Catholic and the guy who does the Farmers’ Guardian is a Farmer.

Obviously the person would need to get to our studios in Penwortham. In the first instance anyone remotely interested can right me for a chat either at work 01772 753700 or at home 01772 735465.
