Since Easter the money has come rolling in! We have received £72.00 from Joan Hardman which she raised at Easter from the sale of her Easter Chicks and £100.25 from the Brownies and Rainbows which came from their Bunny Drive and Disco. Thank you very much to them and to Joan.
The Bric-à-Brac and Jumble Sale was very successful, raising over £260. We are very grateful to Eva for organising and running it and to all who helped her both in the afternoon and evening.
The Fun Run was successful beyond all our expectations. We were blessed with a dry and bright, if windy day so were grateful to Peter Newton, the Cub Leader, for the tent he erected for us in order to do the paperwork. Over one hundred competitors took part and we took over £230 in registration fees. The sponsorship money is also coming in and so far we have received about £500. The final amount will be published in due course. The Big Race
was won by Jack Ellis from the Cubs who beat in to second and third place some pretty good runners, some of them about four times his age! Well done, Jack!
Thank you to everyone who came and took part: to Peter and Ian Fenton for putting up the tent, etc.; to Andrew MacKinnell, Margaret Squire, Ron Black, Jan Astley, Thelma Williams, Ray Armstrong and Ian Fenton for acting as marshals; and to Moira Black for taking on the role of First Aider. A special thank you to Edna and Ray for doing all the paper work and to Lyn Fenton for the advance paperwork (and there was a lot!) We hope that this will become an annual event.
On Tuesday, 26th April the Women’s Fellowship held a lunch which raised £121.90. This was Kath Rae’s idea and she and Margaret Squire did the cooking. The food was excellent, the company was good and everyone enjoyed themselves. Our thanks to Kath and Margaret and to Edna and Ray and the ladies from W.F. who helped set the tables and serve.
