Summer magazine
The Summer 2005 edition of the church magazine has just been published online. As usual, it will be tidied up soon, but probably not before I come back from Norway.

All women of our Church are invited to join Women’s Fellowship on Tuesday, 20th September 2005 at 2.15pm. Our meeting is to be held in Church when Sister Myrtle will speak to us about her experiences last year as Vice President of the Methodist Church. The Rev. Peter Sheasby will preside.
We have invited the women of the Preston Circuit and friends in the Churches Together in Fulwood and Broughton
to join us as well. After the meeting there will be tea and Birthday Cake served in the Hall.
The Women’s Fellowship, which includes After Eights (formerly Young Wives, who still have Y.W.s in their meeting), has over the last 60 years kept the original aims of the national W.F.— Witness to God in the Church, Home and Community
. In the 1980s Network
came into being and Community widened to include our responsibility to cover work overseas.
All women in the congregation are invited to join us. Perhaps there are those women who have been to one or other of the groups in the past, who would like to come again. Maybe some of you wonder what we are all about? This is your opportunity to meet with us and give praise for all that is past and trust God for all that is to come.
We are pleased to report some very healthy contributions to the Fund. Over the last few weeks we have received £150 from Evans Halshaw as a result of Richard Holyfield’s efforts, £31.15 in tiddlers and £35 from the sale of plants and marmalade for which we are very grateful— thank you. We are also grateful for a donation of £125 from the Toddlers’ Club. The amount raised from the sponsored Moor Park event currently stands at a staggering £1987! The final total will be published soon.
The barbecue at Ribblesdale was very successful. About sixty folk gathered on a glorious evening and enjoyed fellowship, conversation and wonderful food. Angela and Phil, supported by Angela’s parents, Annette and Mike, put on a splendid meal, which we all appreciated, at the end of a very busy day. At the end of the evening, Phil just about had the energy to advise us on our garden problems. Thank you also to Thelma and Sue for kitchen duties. We raised a wonderful £300. Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event.
This will be held in the hall on Saturday, 23rd July from 10.30am to 2.30pm. Books can be brought to church during the week beginning Sunday, 17th or alternatively contact Barbara Hothersall (01772 716203). All types of book are acceptable except textbooks.

We are seriously considering an event on a Saturday evening in August with an international food flavour.
Romans 8:1 - 2
There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ
Jesus. For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with
Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death.
Heavenly Father,
We commend to you suffering children everywhere, those who care for them
and love them.
We ask you to give them strength and hope as they continue to bring your
love into the lives of your children.
God, we share our horror, shock and anger at the news of the explosions in London.
We pray for
those who have died in the underground and on the bus; those who have survived but are physically or mentally scarred; those still waiting to hear from people they love
those who have been bereaved; those called on to go and help in the aftermath of this disaster.
God, have compassion and give peace.
The consequences of this disaster affect us all;
we pray that something new and good might come from it
to make our world a safer, more caring place.
Listening God, we call to you. Amen
