Chris Hoban ceases smiling

Well not really, but at the end of September, Chris will stop selling the stick-on happy smiling faces and smiley slogans. The profits have been going to the Talent Scheme for the Building Together Fund and the money is due back in September. She still has a stock of smiles to sell, and from then on she will smile for free.

Please contact her on 01772 682503 if you want to buy any of the remaining stock.

Help: out of nothing

I am organising Out of nothing, a labyrinth-like installation for Harvest weekend (24th–25th September) and am collecting together various things I need.

Do you have any of the following?

  • large globe, preferably one that lights up inside
  • glass prisms or other light effects,
  • nice oil lamp, lava lamp or similar
  • orrery (motorised solar system)
  • large hour glass
  • small astronomical telescope
  • a goldfish (in a bowl)

If you have any of these and are willing to lend them for the weekend, can you please contact Peter after 4th September?

Thanks.
God Bless.

Peter

Building Together News

We are pleased to report that we have now raised £79 850.37. The final total for the Moor Park event is a staggering £2 148.50 which has exceeded our wildest dreams. Thank you once again to all who took part, raised money and helped out. We shall certainly be running a similar event next year. We have also received another generous donation of £450 from the Keep Fit women and another £50 from Evans Halshaw. Our grateful thanks to them and to Richard Holyfield.

The book sale brought in £375.24. We were pleased to see that it was supported by folk from outside the church family. Our thanks to Liz Huddleston, Jan Astley, Morag McManus, Lin Fenton, Janet Porter and Joan Hardman for selling the books; to Edna Armstrong for serving the refreshments; and to Sue Penrith, Cynthia and Steve Grice and Ann Done for tidying up, etc. at the end.

Sponsored Coast to Coast Walk

The next major fund-raising event will be the Coast to Coast Walk (1st - 17th September). Sponsor forms are available and you can even sponsor the walkers here. You can also find the timetable which was published in the last NftP. Please use the timetable as a reminder for your prayers each day as we travel along this journey of faith, joy and hope.

NCH News

The collection on NCH Sunday raised £97 (£59 of which was Gift Aided). On behalf of NCH, thank you very much.

The NCH house to house collection will take place during September. There are never enough collectors for the designated roads but this year we have a particular problem in that several of the regular collectors will be involved in the Coast to Coast walk. If you could help out this year, please contact Barbara Hothersall (716203) before the end of August. Thank you.
