Anyone interested in Helping the Homeless to help themselves
is asked to contact Ted Lowes to find out more information. We are looking for people to help out in the short or long term.
Good rate of pay— i.e. free.
The Steering Group (Committee), which meets regularly (usually once per month) needs more people to assist those who have been trying for a long time to establish an Emmaus Community in Preston.
The challenge is great; we need to find a property and the money to buy and maintain it until it becomes self-financing.
Fancy it?
Interested?
Please give me a call on 01772 864986 or email me.
Many thanks,
Ted Lowes
Chairman, Emmaus Lancashire

The following was received from Ian and Diana Bosman in Ghana:
We know you know of the Make Poverty History campaign but I was interested in a comment made to some Mission Partner friends in Nairobi when asked about the white wrist band being worn. He said what was needed was, “Make Greed History”. This set me thinking.
Making Poverty History can sound such a huge task so Yes we can write letters, send postcards, be in Edinburgh and generally pressurise the G8 but it can seem quite remote to our everyday lives. Will this really make a difference and how quickly? Believe me I am not against any of this as I was in Birmingham, London but sadly not in Edinburgh as that coincided with our busiest 5 days of giving talks and presentations and leading worship during furlough but what about trying to Make Greed History. This is really personal and could affect each of us. Living here in Ghana, we rapidly became aware of how little we really need and then the small things which are luxuries.

Happy New Year! We trust that everyone has had a very happy Christmas and are now all looking to 2006.
The final event of 2005 was an evening of carols and readings in the parlour with mulled wine and mince pies. Mavis presided over the proceedings and played for us and she, Joan Hardman and Ken Wales entertained with readings both amusing and serious. Donations of £42 were received for NCH and a very pleasant evening was enjoyed by all.
The Ladies Coast-to-Coast sponsored walk has raised the spectacular sum of £6 379.49 to date! If there are still outstanding monies, please give them to Joan Hardman as soon as possible so that we can announce the final amount raised. In February, we are hoping to arrange a presentation in the Hall to which, for a small fee, all are invited.
