Throughout the year jobs crop up within the life of the Church as people move on or routines change. If you are new to the Church or find that you have more time on your hands maybe you would like to consider helping out from time to time. Below are listed just a few of the “vacancies” which are available at present. Other rotas are always in need of new names (remember the more names on a list the fewer times your turn comes around!) so don’t be shy to ask a Steward or the Ministers if you can help the Church in any way and they will

The Beetle Drive was very successful raising £80.50 which included Gift Aid and a donation. Our thanks go to Diane Bird who conducted it, to her daughter Claire and sister Lynne who acted as her support, to Ian Fenton for setting up the hall, to Morag and Ann Done for raffle and entrance and again, to Morag, Lynne and Claire in the kitchen. Thanks to all who came and particularly to all the Brownies and families who supported us.

The following is just an extract from the attached PDF document:
- Several positive comments had been made about the potential value of the scheme and many suggestions had come forward. Not all would be possible and some clearly overlapped or were clear alternatives. The enthusiasm was most gratifying.
- There was general agreement that we did need to adopt a framework for the scheme. One good reason was the need to check regularly that what was been done was valid within the spiritual life of the Church. It was clear that whilst the Church was on the verge of revising its own Vision, this would be undertaken within the Our Calling headings. For this reason it was used to agree that these would provide the framework for the Challenge. However, we need to use language which is meaningful for children and thought would be given to this at the next meeting.

The attached discussion paper formed the agenda of the meeting of an initial steering group which was held at Janet and Ken’s home on Thursday, 9th February.
- 1. The basis of the scheme
- A challenge for all of us at the present time is to find ways of recognising and celebrating the spiritual in our everyday lives, both for ourselves and our children.
The traditional language that ‘We are all created by God as spiritual beings. We live our lives to the fullest when we accept God’s love for us, the grace which comes from knowing Jesus as a personal saviour and the power of the Holy Spirit’ doesn’t sit easily into our culture. But the eternal truth of this language is still to be experienced if we search for it.
- 2. The Church’s responsibility to children
- When children are accepted into the life of the church, the Church has a special responsibility towards them. With the parents, promises are made which mean that not only the immediate family but also the wider family take on the responsibility for the spiritual development of the child. The development of that spirituality is just as important for the children as each of their other physical and mental capabilities.
- 3. The ‘challenge’
- The challenge is a new way of working out how the immediate and wider church family may be able to work in partnership to foster spiritual wellbeing. All of us lead richer lives when we recognise the wow factor.

Our latest events have been very successful. The Blackpool Brass Band treated us all to a superb concert and, after expenses, £224 was raised. Thank you to Joe Hamilton for arranging the concert; to Janet Lowes for providing a wonderful supper; to Charlotte and Edna who helped her to prepare it; to Ray who took the tickets at the door; to Edna, Sue and Katy who served the supper; and to all who helped afterwards. The band enjoyed themselves as well and are hoping to come back another time.
The Two Sues’ presentation was
