At last week’s meeting it was decided:
With the autumn leaf-fall expected soon we wonder if anyone has a garden vacuum, preferably cordless, that could be used at church. If so please speak to either Ken Wiggins or Rev Peter.
If you are a regular worshipper at church and have either been confirmed elsewhere or would like the opportunity to make a commitment to Christ we will be welcoming people at the service next week (1st October). We hope that all those who would like to feel they “belong” will take this opportunity to take part, please speak to Rev. Peter or Sister Myrtle. If you feel you would like to receive the quarterly church magazine and don’t currently do so please make sure your name and other details are written on the form in the church porch.
We have recently been informed of the application criteria for Archbishop Temple school. We expect the school to require either parent or child to have attended a church at least 25 times per year for two years. This is the chosen and only measurable criteria applied by the school. If you choose to apply please note that you need either Rev. Peter or Sister Myrtle to sign your application form and they then have to state your average attendance. If you expect your child to apply in the future it would help us to know this as early as possible so that we are able to asist you. (NB We do not keep a register of church attendance, but Junior Church record the presence of children Sunday by Sunday).
If your child goes out to Junior Church we have asked the teachers to collect them at the front of church and escort them to the appropriate room. If you need to take your child yourself (and please feel free to do this for safety and their security) then, when you return to church, please wait at the front until there is a suitable break in worship before returing to your seat, so that members of the congregation are not prevented from listening to the reading or prayers. If you have any thoughts or comments please speak to Rev. Peter or Sister Myrtle.
Yancey has explored deep questions about the Christian faith in books like Where is God when it hurts? and What’s so amazing about grace?
His UK tour will coincide with the release of his exciting new book on prayer that has already been recognized as a masterpiece. It reads as the journal of a fellow traveller, questioning, challenging, rejoicing in the discovery of awesome insights. His journey is beautifully illustrated with moving true stories drawn from around the world.
Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Although perhaps not as well supported as we would have liked, the Craft Sale was very successful and the excellent sum of £900 was raised. Our thanks go to Veronica Frost and Edna Armstrong as organisers and to those who contributed in various ways; Ray Armstrong and Frank Sandford who worked hard on the Friday; Ted Lowes and Stephen Grice who received the competition entries; Janet Lowes with her team of Jan Astley and Charlotte Penrith in the kitchen and all those folk who came and waited on and washed up; the team of stalwarts on the door and those who helped tidy up etc afterwards.
This will be held on Saturday, 21st October at the earlier time of 11 am., aiming to finish at 2.00pm. Order forms will be available shortly.
On Saturday, 28th October in the Church Hall they will present Amadeus: lover of God
