- Read:
- Luke 22:7-23 and Luke 22:39-63
- Consider:
- Jesus has clearly made advance preparations with the owner of the house to celebrate Passover there. How do you prepare yourself for Holy Communion?
- Jesus prays, a great example to us all, but the disciples fall asleep ‘because of grief’ (v45). What stops you from praying?
- Was Judas’ betrayal of Jesus unforgivable?
- Pray:
- for faithfulness in prayer, that nothing should come between you and your conversations with God; for faithfulness in your walk with God; for the capacity to forgive those who have hurt you.
Forgiving, merciful God,
May I pray the Lord’s prayer, especially ‘Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us’, and really live the words I have spoken,
Amen.
Please remember to put your clocks forward before you go to bed on Saturday night. If you forget to do so, you will be liable to arrive for church an hour late!
- Read:
- Luke 20:9-19
- Consider:
- what ‘vineyard’ has God leased to you? What gift, talent, ministry or call has God given you from which he will expect a harvest?
- the tenants reject the messengers. Sometimes we don’t want to hear God’s message, God’s call on our lives. Can you make time to listen for God’s message to you?
- how do we help ourselves and others to accept, not reject, the Son?
- Pray:
- for your gift, ministry, talent
- for God to speak to you
- for the grace to accept God’s call
God of hope,
Thank you for the gifts which you have given me in expectant hope that I will use them to produce a harvest for your kingdom. May I accept the trust you have placed in me and bring honour to your name, Amen.
We have recently received another cheque for £21.85 which covers recent purchases of books, flowers, CDs and housewares from the church’s online shop. Please do remember to visit buy.at/fulwood when shopping online.
Forthcoming events
April blessings
This was our very first Fund Raising event in April 2000. Everyone will be encouraged to remember the essentials of life and the cost and to make a small donation for resources they use and basic items they have. The list of “blessings” will be available in church from Sunday, 25th March. Look out for them!
One Voice community choir
This internationally-successful choir will be performing for us on Wednesday, 25th April at 7.30pm in the Church Hall. Tickets cost £6 to include tea and biscuits.
Easter Week tea parties
We hope that you will be able to host a party during Easter Week.
We are hoping to put together a recipe book. Please email your favourite recipe to recipes@fulwood.org.uk or give it to one of the Fund Raising Group.
Future events include the spring plant sale on Saturday, 19th May, sponsored canal walk on Saturday, 9th June and a concert by the Camborne Methodist Circuit Ladies Choir on Saturday, 16th June.
- Read:
- Luke 19:28-48
- Consider:
- “The Lord needs it.” (v34) - what does the Lord need from you and/or from your church community?
- The people of Jerusalem did not recognise the time of their visitation from God. (v44) Take time to be still and reflect on where God may be found in your life and in your community.
- “My house shall be a house of prayer.” (v46). If we are ‘God’s temple’ (1 Corinthians 3:16), what does this say to us about the importance of prayer in our own lives?
- Pray:
- for generosity to give what the Lord needs, remembering that ‘just as you did it to one of the least of these
who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ (Matthew 25:40).
- for openness to God’s revelation
- for your own prayer life
Generous God your love is steadfast and dependable, may I be aware of your constant presence today, willing to offer myself in your service and always alert to signs of you at work in my life. Amen.
- Read:
- Luke 9:46-48 and Luke 22:24-30
- Consider:
- The disciples argue about greatness and Jesus
points to a child and tells them that in welcoming the child they welcome Christ himself. When they argue a second time about greatness Jesus reminds them that he has come to serve.
- Are there times when you feel tempted to greatness at the expense of others?
- How easy is it for you to serve others?
- How does the church make those young in faith to feel welcome?
- Pray:
- for humility when tempted by greatness
for ways in which to serve others
for your church community to be welcoming
All-powerful God
When I am tempted to greatness, remind me that
your Son gave up his glory and humbled himself
to live on earth; may I follow the example of my
Servant-King in all that I do this day, Amen.
