Have fun finding out about energy in the world, in the church, in you and your friends. Learn about how our energy comes to us and how God wants us to take care of it and use it.
This year there are three types of challenge:
- Individual Challenges about energy which will last from April to October
- Individual Challenges which will be issued for one month at each Family Service and which will also
be on the notice board and on the website
- Special Events for you to come to learn more about energy— watch the notice board and website for details of a family walk, garden party, football, pond dipping, treasure hunt, barn dance, film and pizza evening, singing challenge and much more!
More details are available in the FC2 2007 poster.
FC2 will soon launch once more for 2007. Watch this space for details!
Every day, we at the Fox Street Night Shelter are generously donated the “waste” (out of date food) from Marks and Spencer.
Currently a team of volunteers takes it in turns to collect the food each evening. It takes about 30–45 minutes at 6.50 to about 7.30pm (5.50–6.30pm on a Sunday). Currently the gap we have to fill
is the Saturday collection. If anyone is interested and only able to do
another evening please still get in touch.
If you can email me back or phone the Fox St office on 01772 882859 I’ll answer any questions I can. Full training will be provided.
Many thanks,
Angela Biden
As you may be aware, Preston’s Homelessnesss Sunday is on 22nd April, and the Homelessness Forum has a week of activities planned by way of build up:
- Homelessness exhibition
- Thursday, 19th to Saturday, 21st April
- Preston Minster, 1pm to 4pm. Open to all. Free tea and biscuits.
- Sunday, 22nd April
- Homelessness Day service
- Preston Minster, 6pm
It is hoped that the exhibition will showcase the work of Homeless Forum Members and other agencies.
We would ideally like to show a “pathway” through homelessness, including the help and support of organisations not always associated with the core problems. Leaflets advertising the exhibition will be available early next week.

If you have thought of joining the readers rôta but feel nervous about going into the pulpit we are to arrange an evening for people to read in an empty church so that they may get a feeling of what it is like and then make a decision accordingly. There will also be an alternative for people who find it difficult to get into the pulpit. Please contact Peter or one of the stewards if this may be of interest to you.
If either of the above are not your scene there are many other opportunities for helping in your church. After all, if we don’t all pitch in things will never progress at the rate we require.
Think about it.

Looking for someone with basic computer skills and a little spare time to help with Grant Applications for the re-development. If you are able to help or want more information please contact Peter or a steward.
On Saturday, 14th July the Churches Together in Fulwood & Broughton will be holding a Gala Day. We are looking to every church to provide teams for a fun football tournament. Age and gender are no barrier or excuse as teams will be selected accordingly.
Would all those wishing to take an active part (playing, refereeing or organising) please put their name on the board in the corridor?
The proceeds of the day will be going to the project to provide football pitches in Africa.
He is risen indeed. Hallelujah!
For longer than almost anyone can remember, Preston’s Methodists have gathered to watch the sun rise on Easter morning. This year, for the first time since I started going in 1996, we actually had good enough weather to see it.
- Read:
- Luke 22:54 - 23:25
- Consider:
- what are the differences and similarities in the betrayal of Jesus by Judas and by Peter?
- the crowds play a very powerful role in the trial of Jesus. How difficult is it for you to resist the pressures of the world around you , to be ‘in the world, but not of the world’?
- imagine yourself somewhere in the crowd following the events. What are your feelings as you hear the crowd shouting and you see Jesus condemned to
death?
- Pray:
- for the power to resist the pressures of the world
- for humility to seek forgiveness
- for compassion for those swayed by the crowd
Loving God,
Despite my failings you love me, you continue to bless me with your grace and care. May I live this Holy Week in love and truth, never denying your claim on me,
Amen.
The Rev. Eric Gill, Methodist Bishop of the Pacific islands of San Seriffe, has extended an open invitation to able British Methodists to help renovate primary schools in the state’s capital Bodoni, which were damaged by the recent tropical storms.
Interested parties should look at the poster in the corridor or on the website for more details.
