Building Together in the rain

Sadly the Bowls Match had to be cancelled due to the appalling weather. Hopefully we shall reschedule it for another date.

Forthcoming events

Book sale

On Saturday, 4th August we shall be holding a sale of second hand books in the Church Hall from 10.30 to 3.00pm. Tea and coffee will also be on sale. Please bring books for the sale to Church during the week beginning Sunday, 29th July. No text books please.

Cake and produce stall

This will be held in the Hall after service on Sunday, 5th August. As garden produce is now coming into season, we would welcome any surplus you might have. Jams and preserves are also welcome. It will help if you could price items brought for the sale.

Walking treasure hunt

This will take place on Friday, 10th August starting from the car park of the Ancient Oak on Tom Benson Way between 6 and 6.30pm. Please pay the entry fee (adults £2, children £1, family £5) on the day. There will be super prizes including the annual family trophy!

Dates for the diary include the monthly cake and produce stall on Sunday, 2nd September and Ann Clements’ unmissable Swedish lunch on 16th September.

Meadowfield Home for the Elderly

On the last Wednesday of each month during the summer (from April to October) a small group from church visit the Rehab Unit at Meadowfield and take a group of residents out on an evening visit. Places visited include Fairhaven Lake, Glasson Dock, Southport and Blackpool Illuminations. We leave around 6.40pm and return between 9pm & 9.30pm, providing them with a picnic supper at our destination. These trips are thoroughly enjoyed by all and bring back many happy memories to those who go along.

For proper care and cover for these outings we ideally require a driver and one passenger from Church to help. Meadowfield are often able to send one member
of staff but obviously cannot spare any more to come along. If you would like to help out either by driving or being one of our passengers please contact Sue Penrith (862273) or Margaret Squire (715862) who will be able to give you more information.
