Building Together in January

Our annual Carols in the parlour evening was enjoyed by quite a few folk who had gathered after the peacelight Service. Punch and mince pies were enjoyed, carols sung and Joan and Barbara gave us a few readings, both serious and amusing. Thanks to all the ladies that helped serve and to Stephen Grice who played the piano for us.

Money is coming in from the filling of Smartie tubes. If you have a full one tucked away somewhere please give it to one of the Fund Raising team. Katie Hamilton has given us £14.00 from the sale of her cakes. Thank you, Katie. The results of the Year End Quiz will be published soon.

As we had not publicised the January Cake Stall we only received one cake? a delicious parkin which was purchased (and is being enjoyed) by myself. Thank you to the lady that baked it. We hope to be better organised for February.

The Jigsaw Sale raised £120.65. Thank you to Christine Marshall, Christine Seddon, Joan Smith and Liz Huddleston for helping and to Jacqueline Clarke and Judith Harvey for making the coffee. It was not very well supported but we are pleased with the amount raised.

Junior church January letter

Dear Parents,

Over the next few weeks, the children and young people will be following the theme of the ‘Bible’ in the Junior Church sessions. We shall be using activities, stories, drama, music, craft and games to explore the significance of the Bible for Christians, its composition, how it is used, how it has come to us and its impact on daily life. The theme will be developed at a level appropriate for each age group.
Although we may change the order slightly, we plan to look at the following aspects:

Surplus to requirements?

Being after Christmas, if anyone has been given a mobile phone or laptop and has an older one to dispose of then we would be interested in having them to take to Ghana when we return for about a month in April.

Any good condition men’s shirts, lightweight trousers, t-shirts and children’s summer weight clothing, non-fiction books or toys would also be useful.

Please either give such items to Kate or Luke in mid-February or give them your details so we can collect when we are around between 18th and 22nd February.
Many thanks,

Ian and Diana Bosman, ex-Mission Partners in Ghana
