Church Walking Group

On Saturday, 4th March we shall continue along the Ribble Way. Dave Ridout will take us from the Aspinall Arms at Great Mitton to Sawley Bridge Inn— a walk of 13.8km. As usual, please meet in the church car park at 9am.

We are hoping to arrange some other walks during May and June. If you would like to lead a walk please contact Barbara on 716203.

Church Rambling Group Autumn news

The new coordinator of the Church Rambling Group, having now returned from her adventures walking across England, feels that it is now time to appeal to the walkers in our midst to once again (or even for the first time) offer their services as walk leaders. Dave Ridout has broken the Ribble Way down in to sections and we intend to set off on the second leg (Penwortham Bridge to Elston Lane) some time soon. As before, we are hoping to include day- and half-day-walks and, in the spring and summer, evening walks.

We had a very enjoyable and varied programme last year and hope to do the same this year. If you are willing to lead a walk please contact me on 716203.

Church Rambling Group

About this time last year, I suggested that we have some rambles, walks, and strolls during the year, of various lengths, degrees of difficulty and on different days of the week. I offered to coordinate these and I had hoped that we would have had a few more events, but we are dependent entirely on volunteers to lead. I would, however, like to thank very much those people who did lead. Barbara Hothersall who with me organised the first one, John Ferris and Andrew Bennett, Tony and Delma Whitman, Cynthia and Stephen Grice, Pauline Kirkham and particularly Dave Ridout who has led the last 3 events.

Thank you to all those who have supported the rambles which have been most enjoyable. It has been very nice also to have friends from the Longsands area to join us on our last two walks. Everyone is welcome.

I am now about to hand over the job of coordinating to Barbara Hothersall (716203) for this next year.

Rambling group

I offered last summer to coordinate church walks and rambles for this year. As the days become longer and warmer, more people may wish to join in.

It would be good to have some midweek walks, half-day walks (such as on Sunday afternoons) and possibly some shorter, evening strolls, as well as the usual whole-day Saturday walks.

At the moment I have had no offers to lead anything this Summer, so if anyone would like to plan and lead any form of walk, please ring me on 716445 so a programme can be put together.
