The observant reader will notice that a Help option has appeared up above. This heralds the arrival of the second in our series of guides to using this site: A complete idiot’s guide to online shopping.

A number of people have asked about RSS, one of the three methods by which this publication is available on the internet.

RSS allows you to find new items from the church’s website without having to go to the trouble of visiting it. As an example, my homepage is shown below. You will notice that recent news from a number of sites is displayed.

To see this, simply follow one of the many Syndicate links elsewhere on this page. If complicated is your style, then: visit Google and select Personalised Home. You should then opt to “Personalise your Google homepage”. Where you see “Create a section” you should either type in “Fulwood Methodist” or http://feeds.feedburner.com/FulwoodMethodistChurch and press “add”.

Once you have saved this page to a new or existing Google account, you will be able to view news from this and other websites from your internet homepage. As you can see, many other websites (including those about surprisingly successful football clubs) now offer this service. Just look for the orange RSS logo .

What is RSS?

For a trial period, I have opened this site up for all to post. If you would like to be able to post to, or leave a comment on, this site you must first of all register. All new registrations will receive a password by email.

If your post or comment does not appear on the site immediately then it will have been sent to an administrator for moderation.

I hope in this manner to encourage as many of the congregation as possible to post their news as well as information about groups with which they may be involved.

There may be some disruption to this site over the next few days while it moves to a new server. I hope that the transition will be seamless but, as it probably will not be, please be forewarned.
