Dear all,
The latest batch of 20 photos shows all the finished new rooms. The carpet still has to be laid in the church, but should be done this week. Look out for photos soon. There won't be many more photos now, but they will all be available on CD for anyone who wants a copy. Details later. There may be some of the Community Day to be held on Saturday 5 June when local residents and community groups are invited to view the premises. There will also be a plant sale on the day. The last batch of photos will probably be of the re-opening celebrations on 19 & 20 June. Do come if you are able. Keep looking at www.flickr.com/photos/fmc-re-development and again let us have your comments.
Best wishes,
John Butterworth

Dear all,
I have managed, at last, to get Flickr to show the video that refused to show yesterday. It is titled 'Video 1 – First Service – The Walk' and has been placed in correct order in the sequence. There are other photos of the laying of the solid oak flooring in 'Willow Grove'. There will still be more photos to follow, particularly of the opening celebrations on Saturday 19 June and the service on 20 June. I shall inform you when they appear, but keep looking at www.flickr.com/photos/fmc-re-development. Better still, come and see for yourself, either on the days, or any Sunday you can.
Regards,
John Butterworth

I have uploaded 19 photos of our first day back in our newly re-developed building. There are more to follow and hopefully some videos of the morning. We started the morning by walking from our temporary home at Pius school, down the road to Fulwood, led by the flags of the Uniformed Organisations. The church was packed and many very positive comments were made. There is still much work to do and some modifications to make before the official opening on Saturday 19 June.
Please have a look at the photos and send us your comments if you wish.
We are back at church this Sunday morning at 10.30am.
See news last week (lower down) for detals.
We hope you can join us.

Looking forward to next week:
RETURNING TO THE PROMISED LAND or Back to Church on Sunday 9th May
At 10am [for those who are able] meet at Pius School (you can leave cars there) process down Garstang Road to Fulwood to join everyone else in the Willow Grove (Fellowship Space).
10.30am Prayer and we open the church doors and enjoy our first act of worship back in Fulwood Methodist, please take your seats as the band plays us in.
The service includes the baptism of Thia Chiula and will be followed by coffee and cake for all in the Willow Grove.
Things you need to know for Sundays to come
Parking – we would like to keep the front of the building for those who are infirm/disabled, so please respect this when you park.
There is parking still at the back of the building.
Would the more able please use the surgery and clinic car parks in Lytham Road (there will soon be a crossing by the bank).
If you choose to park on the side of a near-by road please do so carefully and respect our neighbours, do not park in West Road.
A few cars can use the restaurant car park across the road but they must be gone by 12noon.
From 16th May, coffee and tea will be served in the Willow Grove and we request that you use this space for fellowship before service. Please go into church through the new doors.
A rota of people willing to help set up Junior Church chairs and tables etc. will be helpful.
We would like to keep the church quiet for preparation for worship, so please take your seats only when you are ready.
The crèche will meet in the Palm Room at the back of church.
These outer doors will only be used for weddings and funerals.
After service coffee and tea will be served in the Willow Grove, we request that if children want to run around they use the Hall after Junior Church.
We look forward to many happy years in our renewed premises, but please bear with us as we settle back in and let us know if you have any problems.

We are now sure that we will not be back in for next Sunday, May 2nd but are more than hopeful for the 9th. This is mainly because we want to be certain that the oak wood floor being put in the Hall and Willow Grove (new name for the Fellowship Space) is installed correctly and with time to acclimatise.
There is still a problem with the new carpet for church but we now hope to have it by the end of May!
We don’t envisage everyone coming back in the first week, but probably phased through late May and early June, when we are sure everything is complete, furniture is in place, storage is organised etc.
The details for the official opening and re-dedication of the church on June 19th / 20th are briefly: there will be a service at 3pm on the Saturday, including the handing over of the building, cutting a ribbon, unveiling a plaque, with invited guests from the Circuit, District, ecumenical, council and the various contractors. This will be followed by a light tea and opportunity to look round the premises.
On the Sunday, at 10.30 there will be a celebration for the congregation followed by a sit down lunch.
Invitations for the Community Open Day on Saturday 5th June are ready to be sent out.
Let us know of anyone who would like to be invited.
Keys: there will be keys for the internal doors and keypads for the external entrances, however people will also need to know how to use the heating controls, opening the screens, machines in the kitchen etc. etc. so our suggestion is that we have a number of sessions at church, mornings/afternoons and evenings, when these matters can be shown and taught, and keys and codes would be given out in that controlled way; ie no-one gets a key/code without doing a simple bit of training about using the new building. I will liaise with Lesley so that we have lists and the correct documentation for everyone who becomes a “key” holder.
